Cardinals Early Look...

So as the baseball season comes at you fast here in the coming weeks, the St. Louis Cardinals are an interesting team to watch develop this spring training.  They made lofty additions in Paul Goldschmidt and Andrew Miller, which makes them a shoe in to put a division winner or playoff team once again, or so a biased fan in myself thinks.  Being from St. Louis, and the greatest baseball town in the world, we know that people here expect us to make the playoffs every year but that it hasn't been the case as of late.  We think these new additions will be what puts us over the edge once again to get back to the playoffs and world series where they belong once again.
Goldschmidt is a player we have desperately needed for some time now and we have finally procured that missing big bat in the lineup.  Over the time since Pujols left the Cardinals haven't had the same thundering offense of years past.  We've been able to scrape by on pitching and timely hitting.  Now while that has begun to slide due to the changing nature of the game, the Cardinals have been put at a disadvantage.  Now this is something that has been glaring and fans have been voicing their opinions loudly over time.  I'm guessing the front office finally heard the uproar or they got their head on straight and decided to sign one of the biggest bats in the game at the perfect time. The Cubs are on the downswing and the Brewers are quite interesting to watch now.  So with that being said look for the Cardinals and Brewers to reign upon the top of the NL Central.
The addition of Andrew Miller is one i loved to see.  I think the Cardinals have been so close in years past to having a lock down bullpen and i believe this was the missing piece.  He gives us options in the back end to have 3 strong closing candidates that can all be used in the 7th, 8th, and 9th innings in any order we see fit.  Baseball has become a game of relievers being able to shut the door late.  Now with Miller, Norris, and Hicks we have some of the craftiest and hardest throwing players in the game today and they are all open to doing whatever is necessary to win.  Baseball in St. Louis just got fun again.
