Still Nothing on the Free Agency Front...

As we roll into another week where free agents remain unsigned this off-season we see another of bad press for the MLB free agency market.  This is an issue for players, fans, and the league alike due to the negative connotations associated with this lack of excitement and player movement.  It also really puts a smudge on the mirror for prospective big name free agents next year knowing that teams are having a hard time pulling the trigger money and length wise on some of the top names in the game.  Baseball has become such a money hungry and star driven league that is mainly drive by young stars and middle aged veterans who also ruled the game a few years prior to the rise of young stardom and its trend going forward.  When you sit back and look at the lack of action now it drives the point home that there really may be a trend of not wanting to fork out the big bucks for big name stars and waiting it out for a new 20 year old prospect who may do the same things as they guys a few years down the road.  It's a slippery slope that means going forward we could see the money come at a premium or at price slashing for these deserving players who will become undervalued because of who's "next" so to speak.  Baseball free agency is going to become a game of shoots and ladders for middle class players looking for a home if we keep seeing surges of young talent coming into take job after job while scrapping players with service time.
We haven't seen much movement or noise, if at all, from both the Machado and Harper camps when it comes to final destination spots.  We have heard ruffling from the Yankee's once more about opening up space for either star but not both obviously, but for all we know this could just be another Evil Empire trick in order to scare teams into jumping the gun on offers and messing up what could be the right offer just because the Yankees made some noise. You would hate to see such a fun and exciting move from either player to a lesser team be thwarted by the hopes of ending up a Yankee when the options of that seem slim to none at this point after the money spent and players obtained by the Yankees.  Hard pill to swallow for fans currently because they have once again thrown a wrench into the works for competing markets.
Baseball free agency is supposed to be fun and luxurious.  It's supposed to be something to behold and ponder over for a few weeks, then we get our answer or damming destination of that player we oh so desired at one point.  Then he becomes an enemy or an neutral figure we never see until the playoffs.  But we as fans have been robbed of this experience so far and the MLB needs to make some sort of procedure and rules when it comes to time tables and getting players to move quicker for fans sake.
