Vlad Jr. Makes His Debut...

Well the most highly anticipated debut of a minor leaguer happened a few nights ago and it couldn't have been more entertaining. Vlad Guerro's son who is refereed to affectionately by all as Vlad Jr. is the number one prospect in all of baseball as the best hitting phenom we have seen in a while.  He's the first player ever to receive an 80/80 grade on hitting and power.  He is a hefty kid at 20 years old but he is very mobile and plays the hot corner, third base, very well with a rocket arm like his old man. He is the big, bad, moon shot hitting, all swag, champion of the world in the baseball realm. His debut has been on the minds of many for quite some time as he has torn up the minor leagues for a few years now.  His debut went as follows:  he started the game at third base, then his first at bat was a hard grounder to the first baseman, then he his a ball that got robbed at the track on a spectacular play, then he made a great play and throw at third the follow...

Cardinals move up to second best team in baseball....

The St. Louis Cardinals have moved into the spot of the second best team in baseball.  They have in fact been so hot lately they just beat the Brewers who have been rolling lately with their stud lineup.  The Cardinals are now 15-9 and of course have a stellar home record.  They are currently 10-3 at home which isn't surprising, but their road record has been anything but stellar at 5-6. In their last 10 games they are 7-3 and have had the biggest run differential in baseball over that stretch.  They trail only the Rays in record but have played one less game so we will see how this plays out over the next month or so with the season being so long. Baseball has a funny way of trading fortunes and things taking many twists and turns, but that is why we love this game.  The Cardinals success has come from a seemingly revived pitching staff from years past and solid bullpen, but the most impressive thing has been the lineup and hitting.  Ozuna has come wound ...

Yelich and His Already MVP Season...

Christian Yelich has basically already locked up the NL MVP Award and we are about 20 games into the season.  He has come out hot and stayed hot ever since the season started up. He's played in almost every game this year and already has a WAR of 1.3 which is absurd to start the year. He is batting .359 to date with 9 home runs already.  This absurd pace is something we havent seen in quite some time in the baseball world and cant wait to keep an eye on all season.  He has become one of those players that every at-bat he has you want to tune in and see it.  He slugging a hot .800 with an on base percentage of .446 on this hot streak.  I cant wait to see what this season has in store for him even though he is in the same division as my Cardinals.  He's a guy who never has issues off the field and had stayed healthy almost his whole career so itll be cool to see if it stays that way what the numbers will end up being a year end.  The Brewers were in need...

Free Agency Thing of the Past? Extensions thing of the Future?

As we roll on into the first few weeks of the season we have seen a few interesting things happen that we have not seen in years past.  We have seen teams decide to not wait long to sign their star or big players to multiple year extensions.  This has been a little uncommon from the norm.  Most of the time players wait to go into free agency to test the waters, but now we have seen once of the worst and longest lasting free agency periods for guys in recent past.  In the new era of young stars climbing up the ranks in swarms.  The people of the world have taken notice to the damning trails of free agency.  Players are now going to be more concerned with job security compared to getting the biggest deal they can.  It has been made readily known now in the MLB the players are losing a lot of power in making their big time earnings.  Players will now take a little less money in return for knowing they have an easy road ahead and a job in return....

Opening Day is Here...

Opening Day is coming in hot and its the best time of the year.  This is the time baseball fans wait for every year.  It gives all teams hope from day one they can win or change the outcome of their previous season.  We were reminded not so long ago that teams can change their whole season in one off-season.  This is the best taught lesson that gives sport fans the sense of hope and longing or their team to be good.  We will see how this season goes for everyone around here's favorite division, the NL central.  Around here its a good mix of Cub, Cardinal, and Brewer fans i have noticed, so we should have a pretty tight and heated division once again as all three teams have stayed on top of their off season additions and resignings.  The Cubs look to maybe fall off a bit after not stitching up their bullpen needs which glared at the end of last years season.  The Cardinals added a big bat they were missing in Paul Goldschmidt, and they also got a f...

Ohtani Finally Back on the Scene...

Ohtani was finally spotted on the Spring Training complex fields pre-game playing catch for the first time since Tommy-John surgery.  The biggest story-line of last years off-season was sadly injured midway through the season was sentenced to just hitting for the remainder of the year.  As he was the biggest two-way prospect to come since Babe Ruth in terms of hype, he showed his 100mph fastball and his big time power bat for the first half of the year leading up to his injury. He did show that he can hold his own on either side of the ball which makes his return to the diamond that much more fun to watch what they do with him.  Since about 4 months post Tommy-John you are allowed to his, it'll be interesting to see if they let him hit while he is rehabbing his arm or if they keep him out all together. He's such an attraction to fans that putting him in the DH role will keep the fans coming to the ballpark even if the Angels are not very good overall once again.  It'...

Harper Makes Big Splash in Free Agency Signing....

It finally happened everyone! Bryce Harper finally made his decision and sold his soul to a franchise until basically he's on his last leg playing ball at the age of 38.  He signed a 13 year deal with the Phillies.  This locks him up for all of his prime and his decline for the remainder of his career because he got the no-trade clause and money he was looking for.  He signed for a whopping 330-million dollars.  Just an absolutely absurd amount of money like his young counterparts Arenado and Machado signed for these past few weeks.  This basically set the gold standard for Mike Trout in his future free agency signing period.  The kids playing today are drooling over becoming the next big time star like these guys to get locked up with job security and the ability to make 30 plus million a year and compete for championships. Its truly a nation wide phenomenon watching how much baseball players can get paid nowadays.  Play baseball kids, play baseball....
